Seeing Creation and Evolution in Grand Canyon

I love the Grand Canyon. It's a beautiful thing to behold. It makes me said that people like these can't see the Canyon for the Bible.

Vail's quote about 80% of Christians walking away from their faith after studying science contrary to Biblical creation really clarifies what the evolution/ID battle is all about. While I seriously doubt the 80% figure that he quoted, the point is that the modern evangelical movement has built itself on a foundation of Biblical literalism. If they can't convince people to be willfully ignorant of the overwhelming evidence contrary to their interpretation of the Bible, their entire movement will disintegrate.

True. The weird thing, though, is that they're willing to disregard certain passages of the Bible, like the ones that say women can't leave home when menstruating, or the ones saying you can't eat shellfish.
